Togi’s was established in 1968! The name Togi’s comes from Tony Dodaro and Gino Chirilo. It was originally the Atlantic gas station and they turned it into Togi’s Drive Inn. A small tasty freeze/diner. Steve Stidd went to work for them when he was just a teenager as a cook. They would close it for the winter. After working for them for a while Steve asked if he could keep it open all year and run it for them. He eventually bought it. Over the years he would buy the adjacent buildings as they would go up for sale and kept expanding Togi’s to what it is now! The family now owns the entire block of 402-422 E. Main St. Shortly after Steve purchased Togi’s his mother (MA) and all of his siblings came to work for him! As they all had children the children all worked for Togi’s also! The family tradition is still strong at Togi’s and the restaurant is owned by Steve’s oldest daughter Michelle and the Sub Station is run by his two younger daughters Stephanie and Angela. “MA” made all of the recipes homemade herself and Michelle carries on her love of cooking homemade! “MA” was loved by all! She resided above the restaurant and many neighbors, locals, family and friends would frequent her apartment daily for amazing homemade Italian food and loving conversation. She was loved by all and she loved company and feeding everyone! Everyone was always welcome!
